Day 15, part 2

Also, I wrote to my MP, Sion Simon, expressing my concern about the British residents still in Guantanamo Bay, particularly since it looks like even if they're released, they might not be allowed back in Britain.

New links in sidebar

Haha! I've finally been able to add links down the sidebar. In addition to the UK and worldwide AI websites, and a link to the original pledge, there are now links to several (mostly AI) webpages, organised as 'Act Now', 'Campaign', 'Contact Details', 'Donate', and 'Get Involved'. The 'Act Now: Current Worldwide Appeals' will take you to this month's letters that need writing.

Yeah, confession time; day 15

So between depression and lousy internet access, I've fallen behind - I've got eight actions to catch up on. Also I'll be carrying on till I've done a full month, so that's till September 14th.

Today (August 15th) I pressed the button at Care2.

Days Five and Six

On Sunday I didn't have internet access, so I wrote a letter for an action in the AI newsletter, reminding China of its promises to improve its human rights record on winning the 2008 Olympics bid, and particularly raising the case of a housing rights advocate who has been imprisoned and tortured after trying to organise a demonstration against forced evictions.

Today I:

Day Four

Today I pressed the button at Care 2, and I'll be writing a letter for this action, a prisoner of conscience in Myanmar.

Days Two and Three

Couldn't get to a computer yesterday. So I wrote my cards for the British residents in Guantanamo Bay. Not picking the Brits out of any particular patriotism; just gotta narrow it down somehow for practicality's sake. The address to write to anyone at Guantanamo is:
Camp Delta
US Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Cuba
Washington
DC 20053
USA

I try to send cards on a regular basis to Jamil El-Banna #905, Binyam Mohammed #1458, Omar Deghayes #727, Shaker Abdur Raheem Aamer #239, Ahmed Belbacha #290, and Abdennour Sameur #659.

Today I pressed the button at Care 2.

Wednesday, 1 August 2007

Day One. Not as in the Torchwood episode, which wasn't very good.

Today I

  • Pressed the button at Care2
  • Wrote to the Egyptian authorities about arbitrary detention and torture in the 'war on terror'

Also on July 31st I made a bunch of 'Justice and Solidarity' cards to send to Brits in Guantanamo Bay.
